How does ILLiad improve University at Buffalo ILL services?
- It will be easier to submit your interlibrary loan requests. With ILLiad, you enter your name, address, and other personal information into the system when you register as a "first time user." The system remembers your personal information and preferences whenever you submit a request.
- Your request will be handled more rapidly and accurately.
- You can get information about the status of your requests through the Web at any time from any location without having to call the ILL Department.
- You can use ILLiad to request ILL renewals.
- Library personnel will serve you better because all data about your requests and their processing is stored in a searchable database. We will respond quickly to your inquiries about your requests. We will also be able to gather statistical information about the performance of the libraries that lend to us to make better decisions when choosing a lender to supply an item.

If I am submitting requests for a professor, how should I register?
If you are making requests for a professor, the requests should be submited in the professor's name. This means if you are submitting the professor's requests, you will first need to register with ILLiad in his or her name. If the professor is already registered with ILLiad, you will need to know his/her username and password .
The professor must establish Proxy Privileges for you by contacting the staff at any University Libraries' Circulation Desks with the following information:
- Professor's name
- Professor's UB Card Barcode Number
- Your name
- Your proxy expiration date
Note: If you are also doing your own research, then you should also register yourself in ILLiad. However, only submit requests under your name for material needed for your own research.
